Friends and online lookers–welcome to my online abode! Please bear with me, as this is my first “blogging experience” (can you believe it, a college educated woman who can’t even blog… what is this world coming to?).
I’m using this handy online tool to inform you, my beloved friends and those interested in pursuing similar ventures, of the triumphs and tribulations of my business creating experience. For those of you I love and know well, this tool will (hopefully!) clear up and give some meaning in reference to the infamous question: “So what exactly is it that you do?”.
For those of you unaware, I’m currently completing an internship with a local company to help them develop a business to bring to China. We are still in the “brainstorming and planning” phase, but right now our thoughts and plans revolve around developing a language school to bring to China—how exciting! The concept is called “Business As Mission”, and the purpose of such a business is to transform the community it enters in four ways: Spiritual transformation, Social transformation, Economic transformation, and Environmental transformation (”the quadruple bottom line”). The business will be revenue-generating, using these profits to benefit the people (and their families) involved in the business, as well as grow and develop such a business and the community using the (anticipated) success of the business. The ultimate goal is to create a franchisable business that can be planted in multiple cities (with low start-up costs) to create a holistically transforming business that improves communities and lives for Jesus.
How lucky am I to be involved in such an awesome adventure!
This blog holds dual-purposes: 1. to document this exciting adventure, hopefully sharing my processes and receiving ideas from others with similar passion and vision for such a holistic and transformational venture, and
2. To share with those of you near and far what I’m up to, so you know how to support and encourage in this exciting (and tremendous) leap of faith, providing me with (much needed and welcomed) feedback and ideas to make this a more effective and successful venture.
That concludes the first post. More to come.

Hey Jules! It sounds like you will be VERY busy from here on out. I am soooo glad to hear that you are enjoying your job/internship. I can’t wait to hear more about…good luck with everything! Miss you!
Hi Julie,
I just saw your blog mentioned on the BAM Network, and I look forward to reading more! I used to teach English in Asia myself, look forward to going back, and it will be great to follow along with you as you go.
Also, I wanted to ask if you’d mind if we link to your blog from our website.
Have a great weekend, and be encouraged! God IS at Work.
